In our January issue, we shared five simple ways to boost your mood, like writing down three things you’re thankful for, getting a little exercise and reaching out to your support network.

What are your surefire get-happy tactics? For me, I’ve found that looking at vacation photos, taking a dance class or chatting on the phone with a loved one can make me feel better almost instantly. Share your go-tos here!

I allow myself to do the things that I enjoy (without guilt that I am not doing something more important) like drawing with sidewalk chalk, reading an interesting book, or listening to music. I also enjoy posting on my facebook page entitled Get Happy Then Parent. It is all about peaceful parenting and that makes me very happy.

Like polkadotgirl, I also allow myself to do the things I enjoy like sleeping in on a Sunday morning or getting a manicure at lunch. But, then allow myself to NOT FEEL GUILTY that I did them!

Everynight I share four things I am thankful for everyday on my blog sharingthanks.blogspot.com. This practice has helped me appreciate the joy and beauty in my life and look at life more positively.

My stay happy secret is to keep things small and simple. My home is small and only contains what we need (the more you have the more you want). I recently donated a ton of clothes that I don’t wear any more and I can actually find space now in my closet!

Seligman said it right “People will like you more because you make them feel good, that in turn will make you feel great”. I take that to heart each day I go to work. I dress in nice playful outfits, and use bright colors when I can, and even do my finger nails. It’s funny but even the drivers notice that when they come to the warehouse to pick up their shipments and sign their paper work. I also make it a point to try and decorate for each holiday, and put together a pot luck lunch for everyone to join from time to time. It’s these little things that have really made a difference to the people I work with and the drivers by putting a smile on their faces each day. Just because it’s a job I don’t see why it can’t be a happy place to be, and it works to keep me happy too!
