As a child we started the family tradition of attending The Nutcracker Ballet as a family and following that with an evening tour of Christmas lights in fun neighborhoods, followed by hot cocoa and singing around the Christmas tree!
My fondest memories are with my mom helping her decorate the house for Christmas. We didn’t have very much money, so my mom would charm the boughs of Christmas tree branches that the local tree salesman would cut off of trees he sold. We would put them all over the house. The smell of Christmas would be everywhere, along with the scent of baking Christmas treats. Now that I have children and grandchildren, I have passed down this tradition. I hope they will always remember their times with me decorating the house and baking for Christmas.
Growing up my favorite tradition was going out into the pasture to cut down our Christmas tree. One year we were able to do it twice. As our first tree had been the coyotes bathroom, we couldn’t smell it until after it had warmed up in the house. Unfortunately it was already decorated. So that year we got to cut down two trees and decorate it twice. Funny, but smelly!
I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to see these stockings on the cover of the November issue! My grandmother made me the granny square one when I was born 34 years ago and unfortunately is was misplaced over the years. I can now make one myself to bring make those treasured memories! It must have been fate that I was born during the first issue of these patterns and found the magazine now for the 2nd issue! Thanks for helping me replace special christmas memories!
My entire family gets together on Chritmas Eve at my mothers house. We have wonderful food and my father passes out the Christmas presents.
Our favorite tradition is to load up the family in the car and take a drive on Christmas Eve. We listen to Christmas Carols on the radio and look at the lights in town.
We love to go help prepare and serve the meal at a church in our neighborhood that serves a wonderful meal to the homeless in our community. We then go home and have our family dinner and relax.
My favorite holiday tradition is having lunch with all on the family on Christmas Day and then opening the presents after lunch.
One tradition we have is that we open one present, of another family members choosing, to open once the tree was up an decorated. A fun way to kick off the holiday season.
Our favorite holiday tradition is to go visit a house in our city that has thousands of lights on the house, trees, bushes, plus 30+ blowups and figures on the lawn. We walk around the house then go have hot chocolate to warm up.
