Every year during the holidays, my family parks in front of the television to watch “Home Alone” for the umpteenth time and eats enough pumpkin pie to keep Libby’s in business for at least the next decade. Not exactly a picture of health. This year, I am going to take what I learned from writing this article and make some subtle changes to the way we celebrate: Baked sweet potatoes instead of our usual sugary casserole; and before we plop in front of the tube, we’ll take a post-dinner walk around the neighborhood to admire all the homes decorated with lights.
Now, it’s your turn: Tell us how you plan to keep your kids healthy during the holidays. If your entry is chosen, your family will spin into the new year with a new set of Schwinn Sidewinder bikes. Enter by 12/6.
This giveaway is now closed to entries.

To get my kids up off the couch & moving around ,we play cherades. We probaly burn more calories laughing while watching my kid mimic me exercising to my “Get fit with Belly Dancing DVD”.
We always getting out of the house and doing anything to keep moving.
Make healthy meals and have them eat 3 meals a day
Goodbye candy bars, hello fruit and yogurt. My kids will be getting healthier desssert options…
By serving unsweetened soft drinks like Lemon iced tea or Sangria with every meal along with portion control; by reducing quantity of certain dishes I prepare, I can improve quality by using premium ingredients and expand variety of favorite dishes I prepare instead. So not only will everyone get to eat particular favorites but we’ll also be getting a bite or two of others favorites while reducing waste (smaller portions =not having to throw away food left on plates).
I plan to keep my kids healthy during the holiday by give them small snack instead of big meal so they are satify and healthy too.
I take care of my nieces and nephews by cooking balanced meals, having them play outside and get exercise, making sure they get plenty of sleep, and giving them their vitamins.
As a mom I want our family to do lots of things together and one of those is living a long healthy life. We are in the holidays and to save money we are considering going out to eat a treat and have cut way down. I baked a turkey and we use the meat for sandwiches and shred the meat for burritos. I put the Christmas decorations out and we used the bowls for almonds and other healthy snacks.
we try to stay healthy by cooking healthy things and participating in fun winter activities (making snowmen!)
By cooking healthy and encouraging them to eat holiday sweets in moderation.
