Celebrities comes out with fragrances and products lines regularly nowadays, so when I heard Salma Hayek was creating a line with CVS/Pharmacy, I wasn’t surprised. But after attending the launch event yesterday, I truly was blown away.
It was clear from the get-go that Hayek was involved in EVERY step of the process—she even ventured into the labs, whether or not the chemists wanted her there. With her Mexican grandmother—who attended beauty school—as her inspiration, Hayek’s goal was to create an easy-to-use beauty line for the every day woman with the best of the best ingredients, while still being affordable. And that is just what she did. Nuance Salma Hayek has approximately 100 products for the face, body and hair and even makeup, that range from $8 to $20.
On a personal note, I am officially obsessed with Mrs. Hayek now, if I wasn’t before. Her passion for the line—10 years in the making—was so obvious in the way that she described each ingredient and product. She made her way around the room, talking to small groups of editors, so I was anxiously awaiting my turn. When she got to us, the last group, she was still full of energy. To prove the efficacy of her makeup remover, she actually used it in front of us to remove her makeup, revealing her natural, gorgeous complexion. And then insisted that we each touch her face to show how soft and not-oily it felt. Now if that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is!
Nuance Salma Hayek products will be exclusively available in August at CVS/Pharmacy stores and www.cvs.com.
