After a weekend of working outdoors getting the garden and yard cleaned up – I was inspired by a group of terra cotta pots I saw on the shelf in the shed.  Got me thinking about a creative use for something that might inspire those gardening enthusiasts out there – using pottery as desktop accessories in your home office.

If you love to garden or maybe you dream of having a garden someday – you might consider using various-sized terra cotta pots as containers on your desk.  They can add a rustic layer to your work area – and remind you of the garden.  At the same time, they can be useful tools to store and display everyday items.

Gather your favorite gardening books and use one of the pots as a holder for notebooks, bills, stationery or even just favorite post-cards…

Create some visual interest on your desk by adding pens and pencils in one pot, then maybe extra packets of seeds or other things you want to keep at your fingertips in others…

I took this vintage garden box – that was used for small flower pots or garden tools – to use as the “catch-all” storage on the desk.  Use it for your glasses, your digital camera, misc. office supplies, etc.

Add some potted flowers into the mix and you have something that you can enjoy looking at everyday when working from home, paying the bills or planning out your home and garden projects…

Just a quick fix to inspire the gardener in all of us inside the house too…
