Is your tween an aspiring singer? Do you think he or she has what it takes to make it big? If so, check out pop sensation Nick Jonas’ collaboration with Quaker Chewy Granola Bars, Chewy Superstar, a nationwide talent search for budding 8- to 14-year-old musicians. The lucky grand prize winner will record a song produced by Nick Jonas, appear in an online music video, and receive $5,000 in cash and a contract with Jonas Group Management. We caught up with Nick, the youngest member of Disney supergroup The Jonas Brothers, at the contest kick-off (watch it here!) yesterday.

Nick Jonas Superstar“This is a beautiful opportunity to find someone with a great voice who also has a lot to say,” Nick said. To enter, simply record a video of your child singing one of four predetermined songs and upload it to the gallery before August 5th. Or visit the Quaker Chewy Mobile Recording Studio in a city near you to create your video, sample new Quaker snacks and participate in a red carpet photo experience.

Judges will choose five finalists based on vocal talent, showmanship and overall performance, then the public can vote for their favorite singer from August 29 to September 9. Check out the site on September 13, when the Chewy Superstar winner will be announced. Nick, who started his singing career at the age of 7, hopes he and the winner will have something in common. “If I can find someone as passionate about music as I was at that age, I think we’ll be in really good shape,” he said. “I look back on it now and I’m so thankful to have been around people who loved music as much as I did. Hopefully I can be that person for whoever wins this competition.”
