Have you ever gone into a store, bought something, then come home to find that you had a 20 percent off coupon you could have used on that purchase?

SnipSnap is a free mobile app that saves coupons on your iPhone so you never lose out on saving money again. You take a photo of the coupon, the app creates a digital, and when you go to a store, you just pull up the app and show the coupon to the cashier. Voila! Lots of dollars saved.

The app also alerts you if you have coupons to use when you enter a store. Plus, it sends a notification when you have a coupon that’s about to expire.

SnipSnap CEO Ted Mann, a father of two, developed the app because he wanted to use coupons but faced one dilemma.

“I could never remember to bring the coupons with me,” Mann said. “So I started taking photographs of the coupons and seeing if stores would take them that way. And when other customers started coming up to ask me what app I was using to redeem the coupons off my iPhone, I knew I wanted to build that app.”

Mann said the one feature that users find helpful is the “Discover” tab. It shows coupons that users have snipped and shares them with other SnipSnap users so they, too, can enjoy the savings. Since releasing the app four months ago, users have uploaded about 1.75 million coupons, saving active users an average of $40 a week, according to Mann.

He and his team are hoping to release a SnipSnap Android app in September. Other features in the works are a browser extension, so users can save coupons they find while browsing the web. They are also working on adding manufacturer’s coupons, since those currently do not work with the app.

Also in the fall, SnipSnap will be able to integrate with Apple’s Passbook, a new feature set to come out with the new iOS 6. Users will be able to send their SnipSnap coupons to Passbook, which is essentially a digital wallet for the iPhone that will hold boarding passes, tickets, loyalty cards and of course, coupons.
