Werewolves and vampires should be the least of your worries this Halloween. It’s the candy jar that’s really scary. The average chocolate morsel packs around 250 calories—not too bad if you eat just one but how often does that happen?

According to the MyPlate tool on Livestrong.com, it doesn’t.  In fact, the percentage of candy consumed by adults during Halloween goes through the roof every year. Check out the list of last year’s biggest offenders:

  • Butterfinger: 704% increase
  • Snickers: 684% increase
  • Kit Kat: 644% increase
  • Milky Way: 559% increase
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups: 502% increase

Do you have any tips for managing candy cravings? Sound off in the comments below and help us keep the frights on All Hallows Eve and not the scale.
