The nationwide event allows people of all ages and skill levels to take advantage of free fishing days offered by their state’s fish and wildlife agencies, plus derbies, regattas, boating demonstrations, educational activities and festivals. I’ve just taken a look at the site you recommended. It’s a really good resource for anyone that wants to get into fishing. I especially like that they tell you how to buy a fishing licence for each state. Their fishing hotspot tool is also good for finding fishing lakes in your area:
