Today marks the start of Dove’s third annual Self-Esteem Weekend, a nationwide program to help girls develop a positive relationship with beauty. Many girls struggle with self-esteem issues, so grab your girlfriend, daughter, niece or friend and get involved!
In NYC, teen actress and singer Keke Palmer will lead a march to Times Square, with 250 members of Girls Scouts of the U.S.A., Girls Inc., and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They will walk alongside their moms and mentors with signs that say “Let’s Talk,” to promote talking openly about beauty anxiety that many girls experience.
But this isn’t just happening in NYC- there are local events all across the country. Over 1,000 Wal-Mart stores nationwide will have a self esteem “wall” where customers can share a message of encouragement with girls throughout the weekend.
Dove has partnered with three great organizations—Girls Inc, Girl Scouts, and Boys + Girls Clubs of America—who will be hosting local events all weekend long. Check out dove.com/self-esteem to find an event in your hometown.
