Every year, I tell my kids I plan to time shift Christmas so I can get their presents in the after-Christmas sales. I haven’t done it yet. But I’m pretty sure that’s why the gift card was invented. Here’s where I’ll be spending my gift cards.
There is an awesome “Get What You Really Wanted?” sale at 6pm.com. Every hour one item is offered at an extreme sale price. And there are hundreds of brand-name shoes, clothing, outerwear, jewelry, and electronic accessories at 70% off. Very tempting.
No one got you the new Yoga matt or bag you need to start the New Year off right? Check out the collection of unique hand-made solutions at Etsy.com. Or maybe you would prefer to jump-start your craft – and make a little extra money doing what you love? – with some unique supplies?
Prefer to shop in stores? Hit RetailMeNot.com before you leave the house to find coupons – online and off – for wherever you plan to shop. Or download the iPhone or Android app and you can be more spontaneous by simply getting coupon alerts based on where you are.
Need a new dress for New Year’s Eve? There is a great selection of reasonably priced frocks on sale at daily-deal site Gilt.com
Don’t forget about Amazon.com. Clothing is 70% off after the holiday. And if you didn’t get that laptop you were hoping for, be sure and check the sale here.
Did you find an iPod, iPhone, or iPad under the tree? Lucky you! For the next couple of days, you can pick up iTunes gift cards for 15% off at Best Buy.com.
Wanted a new smart phone and didn’t get it? There is a great after-Christmas sale at Verizon.com.
Need a good book to listen to while you get out and walk to burn of that Christmas pudding? The Holiday Relief sale at Audible.com has hundreds of books for $7.95 each. Water for Elephants is one of my favorite audio books, a great story read brilliantly. OR maybe it’s time to get caught up on John Le Carre?
There is a huge after-Christmas sale at Overstock.com, where things are already a bargain even when they aren’t on sale. Furniture, bedding, clothing, jewelry. You name it. Even the unique handmade goods from around the world at Worldstock are on sale. And this is always a great place to get a new rug. But today is even better than usual.

I have spent extraordinarily this Christmas for my family as the expectations and lists started since the last Christmas. My credit card has crossed the limit and bank accounts are dry. But the smile of my daughter and my wife is worth millions. I have used pay day loans to meet the financial crunches till i get paid. These payday things are good for bad times.
