Design Your Own Bluetooth Speaker

As I mentioned back in July, I like the Big Jambox from Jawbone. So I was super-excited when the company invited me to try its “design-your-own Jambox” (called Jambox the Remix) experience online. This is not only fun but it gets you a great little Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a speaker phone delivered right to your door. This isn’t the Big Jambox I covered in July, it’s the little one that’s been out a bit longer. Being able to choose your own colors, though, is brand new. The little Jambox has all the same features as the big one–great sound, easy Bluetooth, voice prompts–but in a smaller, cheaper ($199) package. And, since you get to choose the colors yourself, the end result will match whatever room (or bag; this one could even go portable) you plan to use it in.

It’s an easy process. Go to the website and choose a grill color.

Then choose a caps color.

Then add it to your cart, pay, and wait for it to show up.

Jambox is great for listening to a book on tape, taking on the go, or perfect for your teens dorm room. Both the Big Jambox and this custom little one, pair with a smart phone (or a tablet or computer) with Bluetooth. So when you get a text or call, Jambox pauses your music and announces the caller or text and asks you what you want to do. Tell it “Read it!” and it reads the text for you. It will even let you dictate an answer. If you say “Ignore” it sends your caller to voicemail and goes back to your music or book. I love this when I’m cooking, driving, or working. It’s a bit like having a robotic secretary. And I very much want one of those.
